Before the creation of our product, we researched the competing companies’ products to ensure our product is not inferior in quality or interactivity. We strive to surpass the standards of the industry so our products are more desirable than the competition. For the creation of the Jwaas 188db Universal Remote Control our research began with the leading and most popular remotes. We observed the special features these remotes have other than the standard buttons every remote has that make these remotes so popular.
While developing the Jwaas we took these features into consideration and incorporated them into our design, then innovated on those ideas to improve on them.
These include the following:

-Color LCD screen menu for tv, dvd, recording, games, radio, pictures, etc.
Rather than an LCD screen on the remote, the entire remote itself is a touch screen. This results as a fashionable, high-tech remote that is unique compared to the others.
-Programmable buttons.
Above the standard number buttons, video controls, and menu buttons are programmable buttons that go along the sides of the remote. These buttons can be programmed to execute macros as simple as going to a certain channel or complex as adjusting the TV screen settings to the best setting for the current channel.
-Physical shape is a figure 8 curved & rounded to fit in your hand.
We remained with the figure 8 design for the remote since it’s the most comfortable physical shape to hold in your hand.
-Date/Time.
We included the current date and time at the top of the remote for convenience.
-Rate channels.
We added the option to rate a channel out of 5, then the ability to sort channels based on rating to avoid needless scrolling through channels you do not watch.
-Help menu.
A help manual is included with our product, but for convenience a help feature is also included within the remote itself that allows you to enter words using the letters on the number pad to search for the answer to your query.

-Button to make remote glow.
The LCD screen is always lit up, but a button to turn on and off the glow effect of the rest of the remote is added in the center of the remote for the option to conserve power or be visible in the dark.

-USB to upload data.
On the back of the remote is a USB jack to allow the connection of a USB flash drive. This is used to install software into the remote. The remote also comes with a USB flash drive as convenience with a massive 5GB of storage.

-Rechargable battery (recharging cradle stand like a cordless phone has).
It has a docking station for the remote to stand on and recharge in less than an hour.

This is the charging station that will charge the remote. Unlike other remotes the remote uiniverse will have a Lithium-ion battery that can charge up in less than an our and can last up to 15 hrs. It also features usb connectivity for the remote.

The Jwaas Innovations is a company that was founded by Seneca Digital Media Arts students in 2007 Ontario, Canada. The experience with using digital technology as part of our everyday lives has given us the knowledge and familiarity of the most important basics in interactive devices. Our goal was to focus on the quality of content, design, usability, and functionality of our products, then integrate new innovations into them to revolutionize the way these devices are to be unlike any of its kind before. Our company specializes in the development of innovative technological improvements in a variety of different electronic devices from TVs, Palms, Cell phones, to remotes and etc. Our products are continuously reinvented to match the needs of its affiliated devices as technology in the world constantly evolves. Our expertise has most expanded in the universal remote control, going further than any other company has gone for stunning interactivity. Every product we create is carefully studied on people needs so we can properly design our products to surpass those standards and create something that everybody will want in their home or place of business. Our products are available to be sold worldwide so people of almost all countries can experience the fascinating innovations our company develops.

I believe we need a power point presentation made, and also a write up of all the features the remote has if it hasn't been done yet. It would be cool to have a physical model too for the pitch it wouldn't have to be perfect just somewhat similar.

Also, the current model could use a little touch up to add some of the features other remotes have and explanations of the buttons.

Here is a very simple and basic design just integrating the idea of a touchscreen. This design needs to evolve into something closer to a standard remote control as users are comfortable with familiarity especially since the technology is quite different.

Logo and Site Wireframe

The JWAAS logo is comprised of the first initials to each of the group members. I wanted a minimal, yet sleek design to represent our company--so this was born:

As well as creating the logo, a site wire-frame or skeleton was needed just as a blueprint for the future design.

Day 1 Assembly

Ok,this is our first Blog entry for DMA 144 Interactivity. Two weeks prior to this we assembled our group and named it. Our group members consist of 5 people, Alfredo Berrospi, Amanda Bohn, Shannon leung, Johnathan Walder, and Wilson Voung. Our group name is derived from the first letter of our names, and hence the name J.W.A.A.S. Innovations. Our company specializes in the development of innovative technological improvements in a variety of different electronic devices from TVs, Palms, Cell phones, to remotes and etc. In this project we are focusing on improving the universal remote control. We will modify it so that it will not only be physically different but it will revolutionize the way people use a remote and be unlike any of its kind before. Our logo and blueprint designs are in process and will be posted as soon as it is available.
